Demetrius Edwards

Demetrius Edwards, MPA, currently serves as the Chief Diversity Officer at Legal Aid of North Carolina, where responsibilities encompass leading diverse initiatives aligned with the mission of eradicating poverty and fostering equity within organizational practices. Previously, Demetrius held the position of Senior Community Relations Analyst with the City of Raleigh Municipal Government, overseeing a $1.5M budget and mentoring a team. Experience also includes serving as Program Manager at Youth Empowered Solutions (YES!), where Demetrius managed community advocacy and financial oversight, and worked with various organizations to promote health and social justice. Earlier roles included Public Health Advisor at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Human Resources Associate for the City of Salisbury, and Health Equity Associate at Duke Cancer Institute, complemented by academic involvement as a Graduate Assistant at North Carolina Central University. Demetrius holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from North Carolina Central University.
