David Van Seters has over 30 years of work experience in the sustainability sector. In 1989, they began their career at KPMG Canada as the National Environmental Business Practice Leader. In 1994, they founded Sustainability Ventures, providing strategic advice to large corporations and government agencies on how to make the business case for adopting higher standards of environmental and social performance. In 1998, they founded Small Potatoes Urban Delivery (SPUD), a natural foods home delivery service in Vancouver, BC, which has since grown into the largest service of its kind in North America. In 2006, they joined the Board of Directors for Island Pacific School. In 2011, they became the CEO of Enerpro Systems Corp., an innovative building energy management company. In 2012, they joined Golder Associates as the Sustainable Economics Practice Leader and Global Sustainable Development Technical Community Leader. In 2014, they served as the Director of Finance for iSmart Building System. In 2015, they co-founded Wayblaze, Canada's first community crowdfunding site, and eStream Energy Partners, an in-building energy utility enterprise. In 2020, they became the Founding Director of Legible.
David Van Seters obtained their High School Diploma from Chambly County High School between 1972 and 1976. David then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology from McGill University - Macdonald Campus between 1979 and 1982. Afterward, they continued their education and obtained a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Alberta between 1986 and 1988. Finally, they completed a Private Company Governance Program from Ozone Advisory Group Inc. in February 2022.
