Maxime Colin is a postdoctoral researcher at the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) since October 2021, following a role as Research Associate (Postdoc) at UNSW from August 2020 to August 2021. Prior experience includes serving as a Lecturer (PRAG) at Université de la Polynésie française, where Maxime taught in both the "prepa" stream and the Physics-Chemistry Undergraduate degree from August 2018 to August 2020. Maxime completed a joint PhD at UNSW Australia and Sorbonne University in 2018, focusing on climate science, after earning multiple degrees in physics and meteorology from prestigious institutions including Ecole normale supérieure and Pierre and Marie Curie University. Maxime also holds a Chinese Language Certificate and has experience as a research student and project assistant in various academic and institutional settings.

The Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) GmbH aims to provide a scientific basis for the protection and sustainable use of tropical coastal ecosystems. Its activities are focused on three main areas: 1) Research: In close cooperation with partners in the tropics, ZMT leads interdisciplinary projects concerning the structure and functioning of tropical coastal ecosystems such as coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass beds, upwelling areas and river estuaries. These habitats are among the most productive on the planet and of great economic and ecological importance. Consequently, their response to human impact and natural changes are of great interest. 2) Capacity development: ZMT is involved in the education of students and young scientists from all over the world in the field of tropical marine ecology and in the tropics ZMT supports capacity development in the area of research. 3) Consulting: ZMT is a national and international focal point for research, educational and government institutions for the exchange of expert knowledge in the field of tropical marine ecology.
