William J. Lynn Iii

William J. ‘Bill’ Lynn III is the Chief Executive Officer of Leonardo DRS since January 2012.

Bill holds a law degree from the Cornell Law School and a Master's degree in Public Affairs from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. He is also a graduate of Dartmouth College.

Prior to joining the company, he served as the 30th United States Deputy Secretary of Defense from 2009 until 2011. He has served as well as the U.S. Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) and as Director of Program Analysis and Evaluation in the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Defense.

From 2002 to 2009, Bill was the Senior Vice President of Government Operations and Strategy at the Raytheon Company.

Earlier in his career, Bill served on the staff of U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy as the counsel for the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Bill is a member of the Boards of the USO, the Atlantic Council, the Marshall Legacy Institute, the National Defense Industrial Association and the Center for a New American Security.

He has received four U.S. Department of Defense medals for distinguished public service, including the Joint Distinguished Civilian Service Award, and awards from the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force.
