Francois Laurans has extensive work experience in various industries. Francois began their career as a Process Engineer at Esso France in 1996 and later worked as a Business Analyst at Esso and ExxonMobil Chemical. Francois then served as a BU Manager at Veolia Environnement and as a Deputy Manager in the Environment Department at Veolia Water. In 2009, they became the Chief Executive Officer of LeTROT, a non-profit organization that organizes trotting races in France. In 2012, they became the President of AFASEC - Ecole des Courses Hippiques, a training company. In 2020, they assumed the role of President at ORPESC.

Francois Laurans attended Saint Louis de Gonzague from 1981 to 1988. Francois then studied at Ginette from 1988 to 1991. In 1991, they enrolled at École Polytechnique. From 1994 to 1995, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Mineral Economics at Colorado School of Mines. At the same time, they also attended IFP School, where they obtained an Ingénieur degree in Energy Management and Policy.
