Mehmet Vergili

Principal Engineer at LevaData

Mehmet Vergili has a diverse work experience spanning over 15 years. Mehmet started their career in 2005 as a Software Engineer at Adana Mercantile Exchange, where they developed and tested web applications for financial matters. Mehmet then moved on to work at UHS Computer as a Software Engineer, where they developed and tested independent small projects.

In 2008, Mehmet joined Fermilab as a Data Analyst, where they played a crucial role in the search for Dark Matter and Extra Dimensions in data stored by one of the general-purpose detectors at CERN. Their responsibilities included building data analysis frameworks, testing and creating simulated data, data ingestion, background estimation, noise cleaning, and data modeling. Mehmet utilized technologies such as machine learning, Monte Carlo simulation, Python, C++, Condor, CRAB, Root, Geant4, and Event Generators (Pythia, MadGraph).

In 2013, Mehmet worked as a Software Engineer at Resultly, and in 2014, they joined AltX as a Software Engineer. At AltX, Mehmet helped develop the next-generation intelligence platform for the alternatives market, combining science, technology, data analytics, and real-time news to deliver superior insights for investment decisions. AltX was later acquired by Addepar in May 2017.

At Addepar, Mehmet continued their role as a Senior Software Engineer, responsible for creating a Data Access Layer for customer data storage and managing API interfaces, metadata, encryption/decryption, internal access control, and deployment. Mehmet also developed an Apache Airflow ETL pipeline framework for processing daily market data.

Most recently, Mehmet joined LevaData in 2018 as a Senior Software Engineer - Data. In this role, they designed and implemented a scalable distributed data ETL and ELT platform to handle concurrent data processes. Mehmet worked closely with core engineering teams to evolve data models and schemas based on business and engineering needs.

Mehmet Vergili obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Cukurova University in the years 1997 to 2001. Mehmet then pursued a Master's Degree in Experimental Particle Physics from Fermi National Laboratory and Cukurova University from 2004 to 2007. Mehmet further enriched their academic journey by completing their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Experimental Particle Physics from Fermi National Laboratory and Cukurova University, spanning from 2007 to 2013.
