Ryan Van Maarth

Ryan van Maarth is in his second season in the NFL and currently serves as the vice president of stadium operations and strategic planning. In his role, van Maarth is responsible for producing sound operational strategy in order to execute world-class events. This operational strategy includes overseeing engineering, maintenance, grounds, utility management, capital planning, project management, and construction for Levi’s Stadium.

Prior to joining the 49ers, van Maarth worked in the MLB as the senior director of construction, planning, engineering & maintenance for the Seattle Mariners. During his six-year tenure with the Mariners, van Maarth managed a staff of over 200 employees and was responsible for the overall management and direction of all major capital projects to continually drive T-Mobile Park to be one of the safest, cleanest, and friendliest parks in Major League Baseball. He also managed the design and installation of the MLB’s first LED field light system, which improved light quality, intensity, uniformity, and event capabilities, while reducing system energy consumption by 60 percent.

Each year from 2014-2019, van Maarth’s team was responsible for securing the American League Green Glove Award, which recognizes the sustainability initiatives and waste diversion rate. In 2017, the Mariners won the MLB Green Glove Award.

van Maarth also served as a project manager for Atkinson Construction from 2006-14, where he managed the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the $99M congestion relief ExpressLanes Project that spans over 40 miles of freeway in the heart of Los Angeles. His project resulted in five prestigious awards, including the Caltrans Excellence in Transportation Award and the California Transportation Foundation Annual Award.

Before his time at Atkinson Construction, van Maarth served in the United States Air Force for five years. He was stationed at Elgin Air Force Base in Florida and McChord Air Force Base in Washington state, where he served as Captain, Logistics Readiness Officer. van Maarth’s leadership and expertise in logistical planning and strategy were immediately apparent, as he received the Company Grade Officer of the Quarter Award after his first quarter on station at McChord.

A native of Burlington, CO, van Maarth received his Bachelor of Science in Management from the United States Air Force Academy and his Master of Science in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas. van Maarth, along with his wife, Heather, and daughter, Olivia, currently reside in Danville.
