Emily Palmer is a technical advisor in the firm's Denver office. Her practice focuses on the preparation and drafting of patent applications in the electrical and mechanical arts. She has experience drafting patent applications associated with a wide range of computer and software technologies, including telecommunications, network infrastructure and security, user interfaces, automotive technologies, information analysis and display, e-commerce, medical devices, and other computer-implemented processes and mechanical inventions.
Emily has more than 15 years of intellectual property experience and a diverse range of hands-on engineering experience in both the government and private sectors. Her education and industry experience are grounded in industrial and manufacturing engineering with a concentration in ergonomics, human factors engineering, and process and facility design.
Prior to her intellectual property practice, Emily worked at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in the Engineering Cost Office, as a process engineer for the Trane Company, at Toyota’s Georgetown Assembly Plant, and as a personal trainer.
As a technical advisor, Emily helps clients protect their inventions by applying her technical knowledge and experience, passion for complex problem solving, and technical writing skills to learn about and understand clients’ ideas and draft patent applications and drawings that clearly describe the details and technical advantages of their inventions.
Emily is a former collegiate cheerleader, soccer player, and violinist. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors, specifically hiking, gardening, playing tennis, and snowboarding. As an artist, Emily expresses her creativity through a variety of mediums, including painting, drawing, throwing and sculpting clay, woodworking, and playing violin, piano, and guitar. Emily has a regular yoga and meditation practice, and is passionate about applying mindfulness at work and in her personal life.
