Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing
Miriam Verhage is a PhD candidate and researcher at Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing since May 2018, focusing on the well-being of older persons, particularly within minority groups. Previous roles include serving as a social and legal counselor at VluchtelingenWerk Nederland, where assistance was provided to rejected asylum seekers. In addition, Miriam held the position of assistant manager at HEMA, ensuring a positive retail environment, and gained early research experience during an internship at Antropologen Beroepsvereniging, concentrating on intercultural healthcare in the Dutch health sector. Miriam earned a Master of Science in Cultural Anthropology from Utrecht University and holds further degrees from Radboud University and has a background in economics and society from Vrije School de Berkel.
