Salo Ooft has a diverse work experience. They started their career as a Research Intern at UMC Utrecht in 2012 and also worked as a Teacher at Bijlesnetwerk during that time. In 2013, Salo Ooft interned as a Research Intern at the Hubrecht Institute, where they gained experience in Developmental Biology and Stem Cell Research. They continued their research internships at UMC Utrecht in 2012-2013.
In 2015, Salo Ooft joined The Netherlands Cancer Institute as a Doctoral Researcher in the Department of Molecular Oncology and Immunology. Their work during this time received recognition from national and international media. They completed their doctoral research in 2020.
Following their doctoral research, Salo Ooft participated in The De Nationale DenkTank program in 2020-2021. They then worked as a Coach at Stichting MBO Talent from October to December 2021.
In 2021-2022, Salo Ooft worked as a Scientist at Charles River Laboratories. In 2022, they joined EU TalentOn as a Participant. Currently, Salo Ooft is working as a Scientist at The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson since March 2022.
Salo Ooft began their education at Maerlant College from 2003 to 2009, where they obtained their VWO Gymnasium degree. Following this, they attended Utrecht University from 2009 to 2012, earning a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biomedical Sciences. Salo then pursued further studies at Lund University from 2011 to 2012, obtaining a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biomedical Sciences. They returned to Utrecht University from 2012 to 2014, earning a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Cancer, Stem Cells and Developmental Biology. Finally, Salo completed their education journey at Utrecht University from 2015 to 2020, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Molecular Oncology and Immunology.
