Wentao Li

Entrepreneur Fellow at SUNY Binghamton and Postdoc in Dr. Stan Whittingham group at LiBAMA

Wentao Li has extensive experience in the battery engineering field. In 2008, they began working as a Senior Research Scientist and Project Manager at BASF. While there, they helped lead the Suzhou technical team in China on their development and technical projects. In 2016, they became a Principal Scientist at SolidEnergy Systems. In 2017, they founded and became the CEO of LiBAMA LLC, where they commercialized bi-functional Advanced Metal Anodes (AMA) materials for rechargeable lithium metal battery. In 2018, they became the Director of Battery Engineering at BrightVolt, where they managed a team of scientists/engineers and directed prototype development of BrightVolt’s Polymer Matrix Electrolyte (PME) based solid state batteries.

Wentao Li has a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Tsinghua University, a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Chemistry from the University of Rhode Island, and has served as a Postdoctoral Associate at Materials Science and Engineering at both Rutgers University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
