Richard M. Hodosh

Dr. Hodosh earned a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, where he received the William Altemeir Prize in surgery. He received postgraduate surgical training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Hodosh completed fellowships at the National Hospital for Neurological Diseases in London and a microvascular fellowship at the University of Zurich. He then served two years as a Lt. Commander in the US Navy as an investigator in the International Cooperative EC-IC Bypass Study.

Hodosh entered neurosurgical practice at Overlook and Morristown Hospital in 1980, where he has served as chairman of neurosurgery. In 1997, he became the founding medical director of Atlantic Health System’s Neuroscience Department. He has served on the Overlook Hospital Foundation board of directors.

Hodosh volunteered for more than 30 years with the American Heart Association, where he became the founding chairman of the Heritage Affiliate Stroke Advisory Board. His efforts on behalf of AHA were instrumental in New Jersey’s becoming the first state to fund primary and comprehensive stroke centers. Hodosh lives in Aspen, Colorado with his wife, Helga. He has two children and three grandchildren who live in Boston.
