John Lewis, Ed.D., is a seasoned expert in thought leadership, knowledge management, and innovation strategies, currently serving as the Chief Story Thinker and Owner of Explanation Age LLC since 2009. John is involved with the Lifeboat Foundation on advisory boards focused on education and business to promote scientific advancements and address existential risks. Previously, John held the position of Chief Knowledge Officer at SearchBlox Software, Inc. and was an adjunct faculty member at Kent State University, teaching organizational learning. Their career also includes leadership roles at Capital One, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, and Adobe Systems, alongside co-founding the CoHero Institute, which emphasizes collaborative change leadership. John holds a Doctorate in Educational Psychology and Technology from the University of Southern California and has a robust academic and professional background in instructional design and technology.

The Lifeboat Foundation is a nonprofit nongovernmental organization dedicated to encouraging scientific advancements while helping humanity survive existential risks and possible misuse of increasingly powerful technologies, including genetic engineering, nanotechnology, and robotics/AI, as we move towards the Singularity. Lifeboat Foundation is pursuing a variety of options, including helping to accelerate the development of technologies to defend humanity such as new methods to combat viruses, effective nanotechnological defensive strategies, and even self-sustaining space colonies in case the other defensive strategies fail.
