Luca Minciullo, PhD

Luca Minciullo, PhD, is currently working as an AI Scientist at LifeHikes® since 2022. Prior to this, they served as a Senior Computer Vision Engineer at TCL Corporate Research(HK) Co., Ltd from 2021 to 2022, where they developed real-time and high-resolution video enhancement for mobile phone devices and MCUs. Luca also worked on image enhancement technology for TCL mobile phones, including deep learning model optimization and conversion for deployment.

Before TCL, Luca worked as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Gense Technologies Limited from 2020 to 2021. In this role, they conducted research in signal processing, EIT image reconstruction and clustering, and machine learning. Luca designed data collection and experiments and implemented various technical solutions.

From 2018 to 2020, Luca served as a Robotics Engineer at Toyota Motor Europe. Luca collaborated on research projects with academic and industrial partners and conducted internal research on object pose estimation, activity recognition, and human/hand pose estimation using RGB-D sensors and mobile manipulator robots. During their time at Toyota, they also submitted seven patents.

Luca's professional journey began as an intern at Toyota Motor Europe in 2017. Prior to that, they worked as a Teaching Assistant at The University of Manchester from 2015 to 2017, where they assisted in teaching activities.

Luca Minciullo, PhD, has an extensive education history in various fields of study. Luca began their academic journey in 2005 at the Conservatorio A. Casella in L'Aquila, where they obtained a Compimento Inferiore in Violin in 2009. Following that, Luca pursued their Bachelor's degree in Mathematics at Sapienza Universitá di Roma, which they completed in 2012.

Building upon their foundation in Mathematics, Luca then pursued a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics at the same institution from 2012 to 2014. During this period, they developed a strong theoretical background in a range of mathematical concepts.

In 2014, Luca expanded their academic horizons and attended The University of Manchester, where they embarked on a journey to earn their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science. This four-year program provided Luca with an in-depth understanding of computer science principles, research methodologies, and advanced problem-solving techniques. Luca successfully completed their PhD in 2018, showcasing their expertise in their chosen field.

In addition to their formal education, Luca Minciullo has also obtained various certifications. In 2014, they achieved an IELTS score of 7.0, demonstrating their proficiency in the English language, certified by the British Council. Furthermore, in 2017, Luca obtained an Intermediate (B1) certification from the Instituto Cervantes, highlighting their language proficiency in Spanish.
