Vijay Velpula

Vijay Velpula has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and software engineering. Vijay is currently working as a Senior Data Scientist at LiftLab, starting in November 2022. Prior to this, they worked at TransUnion from March 2018 to November 2022, where they held roles as a Full Stack Data Scientist and Data Scientist.

During their time at TransUnion, Vijay was involved in designing, implementing, and deploying Identity Graph machine learning models. Vijay worked on building niche machine learning models and graph-based networks using Python, PySpark, and statistical & ML libraries. Vijay also contributed to solving challenging problems related to Identity Resolution and improving the quality of linked attributes. Vijay successfully optimized and converted PySpark code into Scala to run on large-scale data. Vijay was responsible for data cleansing, creating ETL pipelines, and generating data quality metrics.

Before joining TransUnion, Vijay worked as a Data Science Mentor (Freelance) at Great Learning from April 2019 to January 2020. Vijay also has experience in software engineering, having worked at ACS Solutions from January 2015 to October 2022. At ACS Solutions, they held roles as a Senior Software Engineer and Software Engineer. Vijay played a key role in developing an in-house business intelligence tool called Explora-BI, where they designed and developed the Query Engine and Query Execution modules. Vijay also contributed to the development of the RES-Enrolment project for a US-based Health Insurance provider, where they developed web services and automated controls.

Vijay started their career as a Software Engineer Intern at OpenText from July 2014 to December 2014. During this time, they worked on the development of InfoFusion - Discovery Platform, focusing on integrating data pipelines and implementing a versioning mechanism.

Vijay Velpula pursued a Master's degree in Business Analytics from Illinois Tech Stuart School of Business from 2018 to 2019. Prior to that, from 2017 to 2018, they completed a Post Graduate Program in Business Analytics and Business Intelligence at Great Lakes Institute of Management. Vijay'sundergraduate education took place at Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies, RKValley (RAA) from 2010 to 2014, where they earned a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering. Additionally, Vijay Velpula obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management, General, from the same institution. In terms of certifications, they acquired several qualifications including "Building a Data Science Team" and "Data Science in Real Life" from Johns Hopkins University on Coursera in 2022. Vijay also completed the "Executive Data Science" and "Managing Data Analysis" courses through Coursera in the same year. Earlier, in 2020, they obtained the certification "Choosing a Cloud Platform for Developers: AWS, Azure, and GCP" from LinkedIn Learning. Furthermore, they completed various certifications such as "Scala Programming for Data Science - Level 2" from IBM in 2019, "Spark for Machine Learning & AI" from LinkedIn Learning in 2018, and others in different areas of data science and analytics.
