Hugh McKee

Developer Advocate at Lightbend

Hugh McKee has a long history of work experience, starting in 1981 as a Software Engineer at Hewlett-Packard. In this role, they worked as a consultant on projects with HP customers as well as internal HP project teams, and acted as a software development team lead as architect, mentor, instructor and more on many projects spread in multiple locations across the US, Canada and Mexico. In 2001, they moved to HP as a Software Engineering Architect, leading the core frameworks and platform team that supports HP internal application teams. Hugh'sfocus was on the full spectrum from architecture and design, development, testing, deployment and production support. In 2016, they began working with Lightbend, Inc. as a Developer Advocate, with the goal of helping development teams understand how to build reactive systems. Hugh was also an advocate of development teams, acting as a two-way stream of information. Hugh also took on a role as a Solutions Architect. Additionally, in 2016 they began Freelance work as a Senior Software Engineer.

Hugh McKee obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Aeronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University between 1975 and 1980. Hugh has also obtained a number of certifications from Coursera, including Exploratory Data Analysis, Getting and Cleaning Data, The Data Scientist’s Toolbox, Pattern-Oriented Software Architectures: Programming Mobile Services for Android Handheld Systems, R Programming, Algorithms: Design and Analysis, Part 1, Machine Learning, Programming Mobile Applications for Android Handheld Systems, Principles of Reactive Programming, Functional Programming Principles in Scala, Algorithms: Design and Analysis, Part 2, and from Code School, shapping-up-with-angular-js.
