Friederike Graf has worked in various roles in the aerospace industry since 2007. Friederike began as a Student Research Assistant at the University of Stuttgart and then became an Engineering Intern at the European Space Agency (ESA) in 2011. In 2008, they worked as an Engineering Intern at NASA Ames Research Center, where they developed several software tools, including a routine to calculate the optimal focus for an optical system based on defocused images. From 2012 to 2014, they were a Control Systems Engineer at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and a Master's Student at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique. Friederike then moved to the Deutsches SOFIA Institut (DSI) at NASA Ames Research Center, where they worked as an Upgrades and Control Systems Engineer until 2021. Currently, they are the Director of GNC and Principal GNC Engineer at LTA Research.
Friederike Graf has a Master's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Stuttgart, as well as a Doctor of Engineering Science in Aerospace Engineering from the same institution. In 2021, they obtained three certifications from LinkedIn: Artificial Intelligence Foundations: Neural Networks, Managing a Cross-Functional Team, and Project Management Foundations: Requirements.
