Paul M. Radassao has a diverse background in lighting and scenic design, with experience in various industries and roles. Paul M. began their career as a Lighting Design Apprentice at Hangar Theatre, where they worked on various productions and gained valuable experience in research, drafting, and assisting in focus. Paul M. then moved on to positions at Ithaca College, where they served as a Lighting Shop Assistant and later as a Shop Maintenance Assistant. In these roles, they were responsible for the upkeep of shops and theaters, as well as managing and testing new gear.
Paul then worked as an Assistant Scenic Designer at Alexander Dodge Design, where they assisted in the construction of 3D models and creation of drafting packages. Paul M. also worked with Event Lights, Inc. as an Electrician, handling electrical work for various projects.
Paul's freelance work includes being a Lighting and Scenic Designer for Paul M. Radassao Design, where they have designed for theaters such as Cortland Repertory Theatre and Bristol Valley Theatre. Paul M. has also worked as a Freelance Assistant Lighting Director at The Lighting Design Group, covering for the Assistant Lighting Designer and assisting senior designers with creating and editing draftings.
Most recently, Paul has been working at TV Lighting Design, Inc. as a Lighting Designer. In this role, they assist with studio installs and live televised events around the country. Their responsibilities include managing paperwork and communicating with the Gaffer and Programmer for all lighting needs. Notable studio installs include AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh and Rocky Mountain, UBS TV Studio, AccuWeather, and Hilton Corporate TV Studio.
Throughout their career, Paul has utilized various programs such as Vectorworks, AutoCAD, Lightwright, Excel, Word, Photoshop, and SketchUp to support their work.
Paul M. Radassao attended Ithaca College from 2011 to 2015, where they pursued a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in Theatrical Production Arts. During their time at Ithaca College, their studies focused on a design concentration, and they also pursued a minor in Art and Architectural History. In 2013, Paul briefly attended the Ithaca College London Center, where they continued their studies in Theatre.
