Frank Palmieri is a Principal Material and Process Engineer at Lilium since September 2022, specializing in the selection, testing, and failure analysis of materials for energy storage systems in eVTOL aircraft. Previously, Frank served as a Senior Research Materials Engineer at NASA Langley Research Center, where expertise in laser ablation and lithography was applied to advance aerospace surface technologies. Frank also contributed as a Research Engineer II at the National Institute of Aerospace, focusing on polymers and adhesion in aerospace vehicle fabrication. Earlier experiences include applications engineering at Photonik Zentrum Hessen, graduate research at The University of Texas at Austin, and internships at Motorola Labs and NASA, where foundational skills in materials synthesis and characterization were developed. Frank holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University.
