Dr. Sakil Mahmud brings over 10 years of extensive experience in both academia and industry, with a proven track record of impactful research conducted locally and internationally. Prior to his current appointment at Lincoln University, he served as a PD Scientist at the prestigious 1890s Land-Grant Institution and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) network, contributing to several key projects, including the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) Capacity Building Grant (CBG) program.
In 2022, Dr. Mahmud was awarded National Science Foundation (NSF) funding as Principal Investigator through the Louisiana Materials Design Alliance (LAMDA) at Louisiana State University. His research excellence has been recognized globally, placing him among the top 2% of scientists worldwide based on standardized citation metrics published by Elsevier.
He serves as an Editorial Board Member and Associate Editor for Emerald ICE Publishing, with a focus on the Surface Innovations journal. Dr. Mahmud has authored over 100 scholarly works, including peer-reviewed articles, review papers, book chapters, and conference proceedings.
Currently, he leads an independent research group at Lincoln University while maintaining active collaborations with national and international research teams. His research broadly encompasses materials science and engineering, with a strong emphasis on innovative material design and applications.
