Alvi Ataur Khalil

Alvi Ataur Khalil is an Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, since August 2025, following a role as a Graduate Assistant at Florida International University from December 2020 to August 2025. During the graduate assistantship, Alvi led courses for over ten semesters, mentored more than 100 Senior Design Projects, and developed hands-on training in Digital Forensics and Network Protocols for IoT. Alvi also contributed to the Analytics for Cyber Defense Lab by developing machine learning-based intrusion detection systems and engineering defense mechanisms for Layer 2 Blockchain solutions. Previous experience includes a position as a Software Engineer at MazeGeek, where Alvi launched Android applications, and a lecturer at Daffodil International University, achieving high student satisfaction in Artificial Intelligence courses. Alvi holds a PhD and MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Florida International University and a B.Sc. in Computer Science & Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology.
