Matthew Nelson

Matthew Nelson is an accomplished professional currently serving as the Deputy Director of Operations for the Finance & Budget Department at Calvert County Government since September 2024. With extensive experience spanning several roles at Events DC from February 2019 to September 2024, including positions as Corporate Business Analyst, Interim Business Manager, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Program Manager, Matthew has demonstrated strong leadership and analytical skills. Previous roles in human resources and management at Calvert Hospice, Emmanuel Church, and other organizations have further honed expertise in operations and personnel management. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern Maine and is pursuing a Master of Business Administration and a Professional Graduate Certificate in Financial Decision-Making at the University of Iowa. Additionally, Matthew has earned a Certificate in Human Resources Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
