About the Position: LINQ is seeking a VP Legal to spearhead the development of its legal function. This role is pivotal in supporting the growing company's mission to empower central office heroes who make K12 districts and schools stronger. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of legal areas, including commercial, employment, data privacy, information security, corporate governance, and financial matters. They will be expected to provide strategic legal advice to the management team, lead in structuring and negotiating complex commercial contracts, and ensure that the legal function is aligned with the company's business objectives. 

Applicants must have a strong background in building legal functions for high-growth SaaS companies and at least 7 years of transactional legal experience, preferably in a technology company. The role demands a dynamic individual who can assess and prioritize risks, provide practical and business-focused legal solutions, and work effectively across departments. The VP Legal will also be involved in and will support the People Operations function in HR-related legal matters. The ideal candidate will be excited to take on a key leadership role in a rapidly growing organization.

Qualifications  •  A Juris Doctorate from a US-accredited law school and a current and continuing good standing in at least one state  •  Minimum seven (7) years of professional experience, ideally with the last 3 or more spent as in-houseIdeal candidate will work from the Company’s Austin, TX office (hybrid schedule)  •  Extensive experience in complex contract drafting and negotiation for master service agreements, enterprise clients, commercial partnership agreements (agreements with value added resellers, buying groups, etc.), and other vendor agreementsExperience in corporate governance, compliance, risk management, employment matters, litigation management, and private equity issues  •  Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with the Chief Financial Officer, senior business leaders, and other professionals at all levels of an organization while utilizing excellent business and legal judgment in complex situationsStrong organizational skills, including organizing contracts databases across customer, partnership, and vendor agreements  •  Capable of significant work volume while being responsive and managing quick turnaround times Experience with IP issues (trademark, patent) a plus but not required
