General Description:

The Theatre Assistant is a part-time summer position responsible for assisting with the instruction and coordination of the Theater programs.

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Assist the Theatre Director in planning, organizing, and implementing the Theater performance.
  2. Attend production meetings in the creative preparation of the play or musical for presentation.
  3. Help audition actors and assist in casting the performances.
  4. Assist in rehearsing cast members with respect to line delivery and character interpretations.
  5. Assist in properly warming-up the cast vocally and physically for rehearsals and performances.
  6. Work with all members of the theatre team to develop a production concept.
  7. Maintain and promote excellent customer service relations with students, parents, and other affiliates.
  8. Maintain a working knowledge of all general and department safety rules. Enforce safety rules and improve public and employee knowledge by preventing, confronting and correcting unsafe behavior.
  9. Follow, administer and implement district policies, guidelines and crisis management.
  10. Perform other related duties and/or special projects as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience: Minimum 1 year related experience or coursework.

Skills: Strong leadership skills. The ability to interact with all levels of employees. Must have a strong ability to communicate effectively orally and written regarding service information and public relations. Must be detail oriented to be able to process information accurately. Must have artistic skills and be knowledgeable of acting techniques.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 30 lbs. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, telephones and other office and recreation equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

MENTAL DEMANDS:

Personal maturity is an important attribute. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Must understand vague and implicit instructions, and react favorably in all work situations. Must be able to work a variety of scheduled hours including days, evenings, and weekends
