Afia Phillips

Afia Phillips has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning multiple industries. Afia currently holds a position as a Governing Body Member in the CIO & CISO Network Detroit Chapter at Evanta, a Gartner Company, starting in October 2021. Afia is also a Member at Chief since May 2022. In 2021, they served as a Board Member at the State of Michigan - Board of Ethics.

Previously, Afia held the position of Vice President of Information Security at Little Caesars Pizza starting in January 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Daimler Mobility AG as the Global Chief Information Security Officer from July 2020 to January 2021, and as the Global Cybersecurity GRC Leader from June 2019 to January 2021. Afia also served as the Regional Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Mercedes-Benz Financial Services from January 2015 to July 2020.

Before their time at Mercedes-Benz, Afia worked as the Regional IT Planning & Governance Manager at Mercedes-Benz Financial Services USA LLC from July 2013 to December 2014. Afia also gained valuable experience as an IT Audit Manager at Daimler from March 2008 to June 2013.

Afia's early career includes roles such as an Audit Committee Member at St. John Providence from April 2008 to June 2010, and a Senior Associate in Information Risk Management at KPMG from November 2005 to February 2008.

Afia Phillips earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Computer Science from Wayne State University, where they studied from 1993 to 1999. Additionally, they obtained various certifications such as CISSP from ISC2 in 2013, CRISC from ISACA in 2012, CISM from ISACA in 2011, CISA from ISACA in 2006, and Network+ from CompTia in 2001.
