Tanya Shelton-Council (Lola)

Tanya 'Lola' Shelton-Council has a diverse range of work experience in the library and education sectors. Tanya 'Lola' currently holds the position of Executive Library Director at Live Oak Public Libraries since November 2022. Prior to this role, they served as the Interim Executive Director from January 2022 to November 2022, and as the Director of Library Experience from July 2021 to January 2022.

Before joining Live Oak Public Libraries, they worked as the Library Director at Trails Regional Library from July 2019 to March 2021. Prior to that, they served as an Area Manager at the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Public Library from January 2014 to May 2019.

In terms of their educational background, Tanya worked as a School Librarian at the Christina School District from August 2011 to June 2013. Before that, they held the position of Elkton Central Branch Manager at Cecil County Public Library from January 2009 to December 2010.

Additionally, they served as the Director at Selbyville Public Library from 2007 to 2009, and as the North East Branch Manager at Cecil County Public Library from March 2005 to March 2007.

Tanya began their career in the library field as the Capital Campaign and Development Assistant at the Delaware Museum of Natural History from 2002 to 2005.

Tanya 'Lola' Shelton-Council's education history begins with their high school education at Pennsauken High School, where they obtained their diploma.

After completing high school, Tanya attended Goldey-Beacom College from 1986 to 1988 and earned an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Accounting.

Following their time at Goldey-Beacom College, Tanya enrolled at Rutgers University - Camden and pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Art History and Museum Studies. Tanya 'Lola' attended Rutgers from 1988 to 1992, successfully completing their undergraduate education.

Tanya furthered their education by pursuing a Master of Science (MS) degree in Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management from Eastern University. Tanya 'Lola' attended Eastern University from 2004 to 2006 and graduated with their master's degree.

Lastly, Tanya Shelton-Council attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 2008 to 2010, where they obtained a Master of Library Science (MLS) degree in the field of Library Science.
