Erin Rovalo, Ph.D., has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. Starting in 2004, they worked as an Assistant Construction Manager & Green Building Program Leader at RPM Development Group. Erin then moved on to become a Sustainable Design Consultant at DOMANI from 2006 to 2008. Erin joined Brightworks Sustainability in 2008 as a Sustainable Design Advisor before transitioning to Biomimicry 3.8 in 2010. At Biomimicry 3.8, they served as the Professional Pathways Program Manager from 2010 to 2014 and later became the Senior Principal of Design from 2013 to 2018. In 2015, Erin joined Arizona State University as a Faculty Associate. In 2020, they took on the role of Board Member at the Biomimicry Institute as well as the Director of Education at the International Living Future Institute. Erin is currently the VP of Community at the International Living Future Institute, leading the Community Department and contributing to the practice of regenerative design and development.
Erin Rovalo, Ph.D., has an extensive education history in design and architecture. Erin completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Design Practice at Loughborough University from 2015 to 2020. Prior to that, Erin pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Biomimicry at Arizona State University, completing it in 2016. Their undergraduate degree is in Environmental Design with a focus on Architecture, which they obtained from the University of Colorado Boulder between 2000 and 2004.
In addition to their academic degrees, Erin has acquired certifications to further enhance their expertise. Erin obtained the Living Future Accredited (LFA) certification from the International Living Future Institute in January 2021. Earlier, in April 2010, they became a Certified Biomimicry Professional through Biomimicry 3.8. These certifications showcase Erin's dedication to continuous learning and professional development in their chosen field.
