Charles Malaniak

Charles Malaniak has a diverse work experience in environmental compliance, health, and safety. Charles currently holds the position of Director of Environmental Compliance at LKQ Corporation. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Environmental Health Safety and Compliance at Bed Bath & Beyond, where they played a key role in the creation of substance abuse policies and implementation of supply chain EHS SOPs. Charles also introduced a hazardous material reclamation program that significantly reduced hazardous waste costs. Before that, they worked as the Corporate Environmental Compliance Manager at Wakefern Food Corp, where they built the environmental policy and achieved zero OSHA recordables on all environmental projects. Charles also launched the GHS policy and standards. Charles has also held leadership positions at Verizon, Matrix New World Engineering, Tetra Tech, TRC, and C&H Environmental, where they managed various environmental projects, directed emergency response and incident investigations, and developed health and safety plans.

Charles Malaniak earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Chemistry from Rutgers University - Newark, where they studied from 1989 to 1994. Charles then pursued a Master of Science degree in Geoscience at Montclair State University from 1997 to 2005. Charles has also obtained additional certifications including the 2019 FMI Food Retail Leader certification from the Food Marketing Institute, the Registered Telecommunications Safety Officer certification from the INTERNATIONAL BOARD OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY in August 2013, and the Certified Professional Geologist certification from the American Institute of Professional Geologists in December 2004.
