Melissa Arab

Melissa is an Independent Certified Intellectual Property Paralegal Specializing in global trademark and patent prosecution, and brand protection through trademark enforcement and anti-counterfeiting actions with global customs and special IP police task forces.

Melissa is a nationally certified paralegal with an ACP in Contract Management, as well as a Notary Public in the state of Michigan. She received an ABA-accredited Associate of Applied Science in Legal Studies from Macomb Community College, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA. She was on the Dean’s List and received the 2 Year College Intern of the Year Award. She has received several certificates from the Center for Anti-Counterfeiting and Product Protection (A-CAPP) at Michigan State University relating to brand protection and trademark enforcement. She actively participates in ongoing continuing legal education relating to intellectual property, brand protection, contract management, and ethics through the USPTO, WIPO, the National Association for Legal Assistants, and Lawline. Melissa has worked as a paralegal for two of the largest US global intellectual property law firms, as well as working as a senior in-house intellectual property paralegal for a global industrial/automotive/aerospace parts manufacturer/supplier.

As an independent intellectual property paralegal, she has worked with client IP in the diverse fields of artificial intelligence, software, chemical, health and pharmaceutical, mechanical, food production, vehicle design, handguns and rifles, and consumer goods. She is very passionate about every area of intellectual property and loves her work. Her background also includes serving as the Chair of the State Bar of Michigan Paralegal Section and military service as a military police officer in the H.H.D. 210th Military Police Battalion.

In her free time, Melissa enjoys road trips and weekend adventures. She also breeds, trains, and exhibits purebred AKC/UKC champion Siberian Huskies under the kennel name Taja Siberians.
