Matthew Leung has extensive work experience in various roles within the retail industry. Matthew began their career at Egenera as a Summer Intern in 2004 before moving on to Hong Kong Aero Engine Services Limited as a Process Improvement Engineer - Summer Intern in 2005. In 2006, they joined Shoppers Drug Mart as an Industrial Engineering Intern and continued to work in different positions within the company, including Industrial Engineering Analyst, Project Manager - Industrial Engineering, and Manager - Industrial Engineering & Special Projects. In 2013, Matthew transitioned to the role of Senior Manager - Merchandising & Marketing Analytics at Shoppers Drug Mart, where they led a team and provided analytical support for the Shoppers Optimum loyalty program and merchandising initiatives. In 2017, they joined Loblaw Companies Limited as the Senior Manager of Loyalty Promotions for the Grocery Divisions before being promoted to Director roles within the company, including Loyalty Promotions - Market Division and Enterprise Business and Customer Insights. Matthew currently holds the position of Director - Strategy & Planning - Shoppers Drug Mart eCommerce at Loblaw Digital since 2022. Throughout their career, Matthew has demonstrated strong leadership skills and expertise in customer analytics, business intelligence tools, targeting models, and strategic decision-making.
Matthew Leung holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto. In 2015-2016, they attended Queen's University for a Strategic Analytics Program. In 2013, they participated in an Executive Education Centre - Leaders Building Leaders Manager Program at the Schulich School of Business - York University. Additionally, in 2014, they completed the Executive Education Centre - Leading Through Change Program at the same institution.
