Tom Lee has a diverse and extensive work experience in the media and broadcasting industry. Tom is currently serving as the Director of Talent Scouting & Development at the Locked On Podcast Network since 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Media Executive - Independent Contractor in Dallas/Los Angeles from 2020.
Tom's previous roles include Director Of Programming at CUMULUS MEDIA from 2017 to 2019, and Program Director at The Beast 980, Los Angeles from 2015 to 2016. During their time at The Beast 980, they successfully revamped the station lineup, leading to a significant growth in the key Men 25-54 demographic. Tom also developed a local market strategy to maximize ratings and revenue and served as a talent coach and recruiter for executing the local programming strategy.
Before joining The Beast 980, Tom held the position of Director of Programming at ESPN Radio from 2007 to 2013. During their tenure, they developed new program content that resulted in a 133% ratings growth and implemented improvements that led to the highest ratings in the station's history. Tom also created a new Midday program that ranked #2 in the key Men 25-54 demographic.
Prior to ESPN Radio, Tom served as the Director of Programming at Sports Radio WIP from 2004 to 2007. In this role, they played a key role in talent coaching and development, leading to an 18% ratings growth. Tom also managed a new Midday show that became the #1 rated time slot. Additionally, they extended and maintained play-by-play contracts with the Philadelphia 76ers and Flyers.
Tom's career started at Fox Sports Radio Network where they worked as the Director of Programming from 2000 to 2004. Tom played a crucial role in creating, implementing, and developing on-air content for the network and worked closely with major FOX television talent to create network radio content.
Their earlier experiences include serving as the Director of Broadcasting for the Seattle SuperSonics from 1995 to 2000, where they were responsible for all radio and television play-by-play content. Tom also negotiated contracts with television partners and coordinated the telecast schedule with broadcast affiliates.
Tom's career in the industry began at Sports Radio 950 KJR, where they worked as the Program Director from 1993 to 2000. Under their leadership, the programming team achieved the highest ratings among all sports stations in America. Tom also implemented new program concepts to maximize ratings and revenue and was involved in negotiating, hiring, and coaching the on-air staff.
Tom Lee pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Broadcast Management at The University of Kansas.
