IT Configuration Manager

Location: Columbia, MD (REMOTE)

Contract to Hire Position

The Job: The IT Configuration Manager is responsible for day-to-day assurance of data fidelity in the Configuration Management Database in ServiceNow, providing training, process documentation and compliance reporting. The Configuration Manager will drive Configuration management process adoption across the enterprise.

Job Accountabilities:

  • The IT Configuration Manager is responsible for ensuring the population and ongoing accuracy, data validation, verification, and reconciliation of the Client Configuration Management Database in ServiceNow.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing a data governance strategy, driving best practice data population processes and ServiceNow Discovery patterns and schedules and oversight of 3rd party data ingestion rules.
  • Provide reports and dashboards for inventory and compliance tracking against all Configuration Item lifecycle stages.
  • Serve as a thought leader promoting awareness and utilization of the CMDB.
  • The IT Configuration Manager is accountable for owning the relationship with IT project stakeholders to discern and capture business and user requirements through out planning, development, and release cycles, facilitating acceptance testing and driving adoption post implementation.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Day-to-day population and maintenance of Hardware Asset, Software Asset and CMDB data, Data dictionary and lifecycle flow in the ServiceNow CMDB.
  • Provide thought leadership and drive adoption of the Common Service Data Model against business objectives.
  • Execute, publish and maintain certifications of ServiceNow Service Maps.
  • Track software licenses, usage rights and entitlements to prevent unauthorized use or compliance violations.
  • Understanding of ITSM principles and processes to ensure appropriate impacts and integration with the CMDB.
  • Provide general ServiceNow Administrator support.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies to effectively plan, execute, and monitor CMDB related projects and initiatives.
  • Facilitate business requirement gathering sessions and provide technical requirementspecifications.
  • Define KPI’s and create meaningful performance reporting and dashboardsto manage the effectiveness of the CMDB data.
  • Willingness to stay updated on all ServiceNow best practices and emerging technologies related to configuration management and IT service management.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with CMDB management, including data security, compliance, and governance.
  • 2+ Years experience on the ServiceNow Platform.
  • ITIL Foundation V3 or higher preferred.
  • Completion of or enrollment for the ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification.
  • Conduct continuous process improvement for Configuration management.
