Thomas Distefano

Thomas DiStefano is the Heinemann Family Professor and Department Chair at Bucknell University, a position held since 1995, where courses in Environmental Engineering are taught and research on waste conversion to energy, waste management, life-cycle assessment, and sustainable engineering principles is conducted. Prior experience includes an Assistant Professor role at Penn State University (Harrisburg) from 1993 to 1995, teaching various environmental engineering subjects, and a tenure at CH2M HILL from 1992 to 1993 as a Process Engineer managing industrial wastewater treatment projects. Earlier positions include Project Engineer roles at ERM: Environmental Resources Management and Mobil Oil Co., focusing on wastewater treatment design and groundwater contamination cleanup, respectively. Thomas DiStefano holds a Ph.D. and a Master of Engineering in Environmental Engineering from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Drexel University.
