Erica Thompson is an accomplished academic and researcher currently serving as an Associate Professor of Modelling for Decision Making at the UCL Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy since April 2023, while also being a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow. Thompson has been a Fellow at the London Mathematical Laboratory since March 2019, leading a research program on Inference from Models. Previously, from October 2012 to April 2023, Thompson held multiple roles at The London School of Economics and Political Science, including Senior Policy Fellow at the Data Science Institute and Co-Director of the Centre for the Analysis of Time Series. Thompson also has an extensive history with climate science and policy, including past positions as Climate Science Sector Lead for the Global Calculator project and various research and consultative roles. Thompson holds a PhD in Physics from Imperial College London and degrees in Mathematics and Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge.
