Dr Diane Smith

Dr. Diane Smith is currently the Research & Knowledge Exchange Impact Manager at London Metropolitan University, a position held since October 2019, where Dr Diane leads university-wide initiatives on research impact, provides training to researchers, and oversees preparations for the Engagement & Impact submission for REF2028. Prior to this role, Dr. Smith served as an Impact Manager, responsible for embedding research impact within the institution’s culture and delivering training to various levels of researchers. Dr. Smith also contributed to the REF2021 Impact Case submission, managing the development of 17 case studies with an impressive overall result of 33. Previously, Dr. Smith held various roles at Brunel University London, ConvaTec, Uxbridge College, and Fiserv, gaining extensive experience in research and administrative support. Academic credentials include a PhD in American History from Brunel University London and a Master’s Degree in American Government and Politics from Birkbeck, University of London, complemented by a Bachelor’s Degree in American/United States Studies from Lancaster University.
