Matthew Wood

Matthew Wood serves as the Head of Programming and Production for the BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales since August 2021, while also fulfilling multiple roles as a Guest Conductor for esteemed organizations such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Kungliga Operan AB, Royal Opera House, and Queensland Symphony Orchestra. In addition, Matthew holds the position of Music Director/Conductor at Folkoperan Stockholm and has been a consistent Associate/Guest Conductor with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Matthew's extensive conducting experience is further highlighted by roles with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, and Orquesta Clasica Santa Cecilia Madrid. An accomplished academic, Matthew obtained a Bachelor of Music (1st Class Honours) from UNSW, followed by a Master’s degree in Conducting from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and furthered studies with a Post Graduate Diploma and Conducting Fellowship at the Royal Northern College of Music.
