A new opportunity for an E&I Engineering Manager has just opened up at LondonEnergy. This is a key position, responsible for leading our E&I Department at the EcoPark in Edmonton, North London.
As the E&I Engineering Manager, you will Manage the electrical and instrument maintenance infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient operation of the Energy Centre.
You will have the opportunity to research, propose, design and manage improvement programmes that increase plant productivity within legislative requirements. You will also deliver within your budget.

LondonEnergy operates the second largest waste contract in the UK, handling, and processing nearly 750,000 tonnes of London’s waste every year. We have a dedicated team of people working across North London making a difference to the environment and the local community from the work we do.
By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough waste from energy to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres.
As our E&I Engineering Manager, you are responsible for:
Energy Centre & other Process Plants
- Continually monitor and, where possible, improve plant and processes to increase plant productivity and reduce outages
- Propose technically competent and commercially feasible plant and process developments that enhance profitable output
- Provide electrical engineering leadership and management of new design and design improvements of Plant and Equipment, project manage
- implementation and secure on-going maintenance at optimum cost
- Through technical innovation improve the frequency of compliance with all the authorization standards (e.g. the Environment Agency IPPC Permit) and optimize availability
- Review and monitor the Planned Preventative Maintenance Scheme and develop and implement improvements
- Developing the Company’s control systems including PLC, Scada and computer network systems.
- Own the maintenance and compliance of the Company’s HV & LV distribution systems and associated assets.
- Influence, co-ordinate and execute Outages to Major Assets within the Company’s set schedule and budget.
Financial
- Develop capital expenditure proposals that, where possible, improve production, electricity generation or optimize costs and, demonstrate pay back within company defined limits.
- Assist in the creation of 3 – 5-year business plan for the Energy Centre, EcoPark operations and other LondonEnergy group operations, describing the electrical engineering improvements which achieve medium to long-term strategic goals.
- Propose electrical and instrument engineering changes, generate specifications and tender documents, produce budgets and estimates and, implement improvements that result in defined cost reductions and/or improved financial performance
- Manage and control project and departmental expenditure within agreed budgets including reviewing of the accounts on a regular basis and implementing actions to generate cost savings as necessary.
- Ensure accurate project financial forecasting and delivery.
Compliance and Control
- Establish control and monitoring schemes of technical plant performance, analyse and use this data to develop and propose electrical and instrument engineering improvements that enhance plant performance.
- Ensure that all improvement projects enable the current and any future Plant to operate in accordance with all necessary licenses and Permits from the appropriate statutory authorities, including the Environment Agency EPC Permit.
- Ensure that all improvement projects meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental licenses, and general duty of care.
- Responsibility for electrical technical safety of improvements implemented in the Energy Centre, EcoPark and other designated project areas and ensure that operations and maintenance personnel are properly trained to operate such technical changes effectively and safely.
- Develop key performance indicators including monitoring outages against plan and budgets that demonstrate engineering improvements are delivering the returns proposed in the accepted improvement plan.
Internal and External Liaison
- Provide electrical and instrument engineering advice and assistance to other facilities within the LondonEnergy group, as requested.
- Liaison with line managers, functional Specialists, internal Customers and external suppliers (i.e. contractors) to ensure that the planning and project resources are being used effectively to achieve approved improvement plans in those areas for which this role retains responsibility.
- Work with central Environmental, Engineering and EfW teams within SITA and Suez to share technical knowledge and improve engineering efficiency.
- Act as the key point of contact for electrical and instrument engineering intelligence in relation to the optimum control of waste treatment technologies such that the job holder can advise LondonEnergy on future developments and opportunities.
- Represent the Energy Centre in specialist industry and other forums as requested.
- Work proactively with other support departments to deliver the Company strategy and plans.
