Alexander Umpelev

Alexander Umpelev is a seasoned finance professional currently serving as Vice President and CFO of the Small Molecules Division at Lonza since September 2019, following roles as Head of Planning & Analytics and Chief of Staff Finance. Alexander has also contributed to academia as a Guest Lecturer at the University of St.Gallen from December 2020 to July 2023. Prior experience includes significant positions at Morgan Stanley from August 2012 to August 2019, progressing from Analyst to Vice President in Investment Banking. Earlier roles include a Visiting Associate at The Boston Consulting Group, Internships at Horváth & Partners and Deloitte, and completion of a Master of Arts in Banking and Finance from the University of St.Gallen, along with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Mannheim.
