Principal Software Engineer at Lookout

Sheila Coleman has over 30 years of work experience, starting in 1990. Sheila began their career as a Principal Software Engineer at Epoch Systems, where they worked on device integration and storage systems. From 1993 to 1996, they served as an Engineering Manager at EMC. Sheila then joined OpenVision as an Engineering Manager, responsible for a team of software engineers developing security products. OpenVision was acquired by Veritas, and Sheila continued their role as an Engineering Manager until 1998.

After a brief sabbatical, Sheila joined Wildfire as a Principal Software Engineer until 2002. Sheila then worked at Orange Services US as a Principal Software Engineer for five years. In 2007, they became a Principal Software Engineer at vlingo, focused on mobile speech applications. Sheila continued this role when vlingo was acquired by Nuance Communications in 2012.

At Nuance Communications, Sheila served as a Principal Software Engineer and was the Mobile Client Team Lead on Android for voice-enabled applications. Sheila'swork included developing applications like SVoice and DriveLink, which are pre-installed on over 300 million mobile devices worldwide, generating billions of transactions monthly.

Most recently, Sheila joined Lookout in 2015 as a Staff Software Engineer and later became a Principal Software Engineer. Sheila'scurrent role and tenure at Lookout is ongoing.

Sheila Coleman attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 1980 to 1984, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. Additionally, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Information Science from the same university, although the specific duration of this program is unknown.
