Hardware Prototyper/mechanical Engineer at Loon

Haden Cory has a diverse range of work experience. Starting in 2010, they worked as a Mechanic (Intern) at Road Rockets. From 2012 to 2013, they served as a Machine Shop Technician at Cal Poly ME Machine Shops, assisting students and faculty with their projects and instructing them on tool usage. They then advanced to the position of Lead Technician from 2013 to 2015, where they managed personnel, projects, and inventory in addition to overseeing daily operations. They also worked as a Builder/Art Department employee at MythBusters/Beyond Productions in 2015, where they built props and set pieces for the television show. In 2016, they transitioned to the role of a Shop Technician at X (formerly Google[x]) via Adecco/Modis E&T, and worked there until 2017. Finally, since 2017, they have been employed at X, the moonshot factory, as a Hardware Prototyper/Mechanical Engineer. Their responsibilities at X include designing, engineering, and making prototype hardware for early-stage projects, as well as providing hardware and reliability/testing support for larger X projects such as Loon and Wing.

Haden Cory completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. Haden attended this university from 2010 to 2015. Prior to that, they went to Lick-Wilmerding High School from 2006 to 2010 but did not obtain a degree or specialize in any field of study during that time.

In addition to their educational background, Haden Cory obtained the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification from the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists in February 2016.
