Lorraine Schwartz

Lorraine Schwartz is a world renowned jewelry designer, known for her contemporary, trend setting creations. She began her career as a third generation diamond dealer, where she developed a keen eye for quality and clarity. As the granddaughter of one of the world's leading diamond manufacturers, she learned early on about the intricate aspects of the gemstone and fine jewelry business. Schwartz started designing pieces for herself in 2000, combining unique materials and precious gems to create exceptional masterpieces. Her dramatic designs and creative insight won her immediate acclaim. Everyone from celebrities and socialites, to royal families and heads of state are among her clients. Her muse, Beyoncé, has been a canvas for many of Schwartz's outstanding creations: from armfuls of stacked bangles, to large earrings and the titanium glove that Beyoncé uses to tell us to "put a ring on it" with in her much vaunted music video. Together, they have started many of the notable jewelry trends in the last decade. ‘Lorraine Schwartz’ is an often sighted name on red carpets around the world as the source of jewelry that makes headlines in its own right, most notably the 2009 Oscar red carpet moment, where Angelina Jolie adorned the legendary oversized Lorraine Schwartz emerald drop earrings, launching a new emerald trend that is still popular today. Schwartz's drive and dedication to her work has awarded her the 2008 Innovator of the Year for the Accessories Council, the Women of Distinction in Business Award with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. She has been honored with the Spirit of Achievement Award by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and she is a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. She credits her success to her late mother's style and sense of glamor. As her late, dear friend, Elizabeth Taylor has said of Schwartz, "She's a lovely, lovable being, and it's reflected in her shimmering, dancing gems."
