Gary Simpson

Gary Simpson is a highly experienced professional with a diverse background in medicine and public health. Currently serving as a Guest Scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory and as an Adjunct Professor at both the University of Missouri and the University of New Mexico since 2010, Gary also holds the position of Principal at Placitas Consulting Group, focusing on One Health, emerging infectious diseases, syndrome surveillance, and novel pathogen discovery since 1983. Previously, Gary was a Professor of Medicine and College Master at Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, Texas Tech University from 2009 to 2011, and served as the Medical Director of Infectious Diseases at the New Mexico Department of Health from 1992 to 2007. Academic qualifications include a Fellowship in Infectious Diseases from Stanford University Medical Center, an MPH in Tropical Public Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, an MSc in Clinical Medicine from Balliol College, University of Oxford, and an MD from Rush Medical College, along with a BS, MS, and PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Illinois.
