James Lill

Director, Operations at Lower Merion School District

James Lill is the current Director of Operations at the Lower Merion School District. James has held this position since October 2015. Prior to that, they were the Director of Facilities, Planning & Management at the Downingtown Area School District from June 2011 to October 2015. In this role, they supervised the facility operations, maintenance, repairs, renovations, and new construction for the Downingtown Area School District (DASD).

Lill established and implemented a $20,000,000 capital plan for DASD’s existing facilities. These projects addressed roof replacements, façade restorations, mechanical system upgrades, and security improvements over a 5 year duration. James also managed a staff of approximately 100 employees – both hourly and salaried – and supervised the custodial operations for 1,600,000 square feet of school buildings – Kindergarten through 12th Grade. In addition, Lill managed the grounds services for approximately 400 acres of property spread across 12 different locations within DASD’s boundaries. James was responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance and upkeep of 10 elementary schools, one 6th Grade Center, 2 middle schools, 3 high schools, and one administration building. James administered an annual operating budget of approximately $13,000,000.

James Lill has a MS in Engineering Management and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University.

James Lill works with Kimberly Fraser - Director, Student Services & Special Education, Alexis McGloin - Assistant Superintendent, and George Frazier - Director, Information Systems. James Lill reports to Khalid N. Mumin, Superintendent.
