Amanda Harrington, PhD, D(ABMM) has a wealth of experience in the field of pathology and laboratory medicine. Amanda Harrington is currently a Professor of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Loyola University Chicago, a position they have held since July 2022. Prior to this, they were an Associate Professor in the same department from October 2016 to July 2022.

In addition to their academic roles, Dr. Harrington has also held leadership positions in various clinical microbiology laboratories. Amanda Harrington served as the Medical Director of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at Loyola Medicine from January 2017 onwards, and prior to that, they were the Associate Medical Director from October 2016 to January 2017. Before joining Loyola Medicine, they worked at the UI Health - University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System as the Director of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory from August 2013 to September 2016.

Dr. Harrington's journey in academia and healthcare began at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where they held the position of Assistant Professor of Pathology from August 2013 to September 2016. Prior to that, they gained experience as the Assistant Director of Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System from August 2007 to June 2013.

Amanda Harrington earned their PhD in Microbiology from The University of Kansas in 2005. Amanda Harrington then went on to complete a Post-doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Microbiology at the University of Washington from 2005 to 2007.
