Bashar Kasim

Bashar Kasim has a strong background in social work and operations. Bashar started their career at ShelterCare, where they worked as a Counselor/Advocate I, providing case management services to homeless individuals with severe and persistent mental health illnesses. Bashar also worked as part of the Outreach Program Team, assisting homeless individuals in the community to connect with housing, medical assistance, and mental health services.

In 2016, Bashar joined New Narrative as a Housing Specialist, where they provided housing case management services for homeless adults with a severe and persistent mental illness diagnosis. Bashar addressed housing history, barriers, and tenancy skills, and helped establish community supports for clients. Bashar also advocated for clients in relation to Fair Housing Law and Landlord-Tenant Law.

Bashar then took on the role of Operational Specialist at New Narrative, initially as an intern and later as a full-fledged employee. In this role, they assisted with various administrative projects, including developing a new housing navigation/retention program for licensed residential sites.

Most recently, Bashar has become the Director of Operations at New Narrative, a position they took on in July 2022. In this role, they oversee operations and ensures the smooth functioning of the organization.
