Nils F Jansson

Nils F Jansson is currently a Councillor for the Society for Geology Applied to Mineral Deposits and serves as an Associate Editor for the international journal Mineralium Deposita. With an extensive academic career at Luleå tekniska universitet since August 2014, Jansson holds the position of Associate Professor, leading significant research projects in the field of mineral exploration and coordinating MSc courses. Previously, Jansson worked as an exploration geologist at Boliden, focusing on Palaeoproterozoic VHMS-type deposits, and has experience as a geologist and guide at Sala Silvergruva, along with roles in academia and exploration. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Ore Geology from Luleå University of Technology and Master’s degrees in Earth Science from Uppsala University and Háskóli Íslands. Jansson is also set to chair the Fellowship Admission Committee for the Society of Economic Geologists starting in January 2024.
