Terrance Devries

Terrance DeVries is an accomplished ML Research Scientist at Luma AI since January 2022, focusing on training foundation models. Prior to this role, Terrance held research internships at Apple, where work involved designing generative models for synthesizing 3D scenes, and at Facebook AI, contributing to improvements in evaluation methods for conditional GANs and identifying biases in object recognition systems. Additionally, experience as an AI Scientist in Residence at NEXT Canada included providing R&D services for tech startups. Early career roles involved designing image processing algorithms at ATS Automation and creating machine learning models for wind tunnel studies at RWDI. Terrance holds a PhD in Engineering Systems and Computing, specializing in Machine Learning, from the University of Guelph, along with a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering specializing in Mechatronics.
