Elizabeth Mittmann has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Elizabeth is currently working at Lumafield as a Backend Software Lead, starting in January 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Vicarious Surgical Inc. as a Systems Integration Engineer and a Mechanical Design Engineer from September 2020 to January 2021 and June 2019 to August 2020, respectively.
Elizabeth also has research experience with the MIT Mechatronics Research Laboratory (MRL) as a Graduate and Undergraduate Researcher, where they programmed data acquisition and analysis systems for an in-pipe leak detection robot and focused on system planning and control for self-repairing water pipe networks from September 2017 to June 2019.
As an intern, they worked at SpaceX as a Vehicle Engineering Intern and a Build Reliability Engineering Intern in 2017 and 2016, respectively. Additionally, they were an Undergraduate Researcher at the MIT CSAIL M-Blocks Research Group in 2016.
Elizabeth's earlier experience includes being a Member, MechE Intern, and Radio and Telemetry at the MIT Solar Car Team, where they used SolidWorks software for design and testing structural integrity and machining brake mounts for the solar car. Elizabeth also worked as a Mentor for FRC Teams #5521 and 5311 in the FIRST Robotics Competition and served as a Quality Assurance and Marketing Intern at Snapwiz.
Before transitioning into their technical roles, Elizabeth worked as an Aerial Circus Performer at Trapeze Arts Inc. from September 2006 to August 2014.
Elizabeth Mittmann holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Elizabeth went on to pursue a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT as well. Prior to their college education, Elizabeth Mittmann attended Palo Alto High School. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Physics (8-12) and Sheltered English Immersion, both from the Massachusetts Department of Education. In 2023, they also earned the CKA: Certified Kubernetes Administrator certification from The Linux Foundation.
