Matthew Peters

Matthew Peters is an R&D Senior Director at Lumentum, where responsibilities include leading strategic projects and new product development, particularly in laser diode chip development through innovative epitaxial growth and wafer fabrication since June 1995. Prior to this role, Matthew served as a Research Assistant at UCSB from September 1990 to March 1995, contributing to the design and fabrication of vertical-cavity surface emitting lasers under the guidance of Professor Larry Coldren. Additionally, experience as a Research Assistant at AT&T from September 1989 to September 1990 involved developing non-destructive methods to map defects in GaAs wafers in collaboration with Dr. Gary Carver. Matthew holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara (1990-1995) and a BSE in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University (1986-1990).
