Alan Prescott

Alan Prescott is the Chief Legal Officer at Luminar. Prior to joining Luminar, Alan served as Acting General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Tesla from June 2017 to April 2021. In this role, they provided guidance to Tesla's executives and Board of Directors, and directed all legal operations in North America, Europe, and Asia. Alan also guided the company through challenges in the automotive and energy industries, ensured legal and regulatory compliance, and protected and defended the company.

Before joining Tesla, Alan served as Senior Counsel for Autonomous Vehicles at Uber from April 2016 to June 2017. In this role, they worked at the Uber Advanced Technology Group on regulatory, litigation, commercial, privacy, and cybersecurity issues. Alan also served as the lead lawyer for UATG’s Pittsburgh research center, where they addressed a variety of legal issues affecting the company, from business deals to employment.

Alan began their career as an attorney at Ford Motor Company in March 2006, where they worked until March 2016. Alan then served as a Safety Engineer at Ford Motor Company from January 2000 to December 2001.

Alan Prescott has a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.S.E. from Duke University in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
